Program Notes: I have lived another day was commissioned by the Fusion Saxophone Duo for two alto saxophones and fixed electronics. Following the Duo’s theme, “Melodies,” and their interest in music that depicts everyday experiences, I decided to derive sounds for the fixed media from recordings of morning noise such as tumbling laundry, cutlery clinking together, and coffee brewing. I also gained inspiration from the wide variety of favorite music sent to me by the Fusion Saxophone Duo.
